Overview & Conference FAQ

Conference Schedule
We are compiling workshop, vendor, and entertainment proposals to curate the best possible conference programming for our attendees. Once the schedule is finalized, we will announce it via email and our website.
  • The NewCAJE 16th annual conference will take place from Monday, June 23rd, to Thursday, June 26th, 2025, at Goucher College in Baltimore, Maryland.
  • There will be no Shabbat programming at this conference. 
  • Early arrival on Sunday, June 22nd, is available with dorm room accommodations.
  • Dorm rooms will NOT be available on Thursday evening after the conference.
  • All of the buildings on the Goucher Campus are ADA compliant. The campus is small and the buildings we are using are all within a short walk of each other. Sessions will be split between two adjacent buildings. 
  • We will be offering convenient golf cart transportation between the dorm buildings, the dining hall, and classrooms. Those staying in the hotel, they are offer a free shuttle service. 
  • The Sheraton Hotel offers a free shuttle to Goucher campus on request until 6pm. 
  •  NewCAJE will make it possible for people to rent a mobility scooter at an additional cost of $235.00 which will be provided at the conference. If you’re interested in a scooter, please request one on the registration form or contact NewCAJE staff.
  • For specific accommodation needs, contact Primo at primo@newcaje.org. 
  • NewCAJE and the Goucher College dining hall take food allergies very seriously and will work with attendees to ensure their dietary needs are met. The registration form includes a section for allergies and dietary restrictions—please fill it out so we can accommodate your needs.

  • If you make a $50 non-refundable deposit, full payment will not be due until May 22nd.
  • No, payment is NOT due at registration. You can submit your registration and determine how you want to pay at the end. Payment is due by May 31st unless you have made arrangements ahead of time with NewCAJE staff. 
  • To receive a workshop proposal application, complete the registration form and fill out the designated section requesting one. After submitting your registration, you will receive the application. Once you submit the workshop form, a NewCAJE staff member will contact you to discuss your proposal.
  • Workshop applications are due Monday, March 24th, 2025. If you need more time please contact NewCAJE staff at info@newcaje.org
  •  If your workshop is not accepted, you may cancel your conference reservation for a full refund.

Complete the registration form and fill out the entertainment proposal section. After submitting your registration, a NewCAJE staff member will contact you to discuss your proposal. You will be asked to describe the type of entertainment you are proposing, and if this is your first time performing at NewCAJE, you will need to provide a link to an example of your work.

  • No, you don’t need to stay on campus, but most NewCAJE attendees will be in the Goucher dorm rooms. These are the most affordable option and offer the best accessibility to the rest of the conference.
  • The Sheraton Baltimore Hotel North is the official hotel and is just a short walk from campus. Check with Primo at the office (put your contact info here) and ask about group rates, which are limited.
  • Local Baltimore residents can either stay on campus or commute from home. Those coming from out of town and staying with friends can also commute.
  • Commuters will have plenty of time in the morning to drive to campus and join us before daytime programming begins.
  • At NewCAJE we learn from each other and from experts from the field. The program committee is busy accepting workshops and putting together an excellent conference for you.
  • The final program for the conference will be posted on the online app SCHED after Shavuot. We will continue updating you on sessions and presenters as they are confirmed.
  • If you want to get a good idea of what the programs are like, look at past conference books in the “Past Conferences” tab on our website.
  • You can volunteer to support our limited staff at NewCAJE! There are many ways to help, from planning the program or leading a session to assisting with registration, serving as a Smile Ambassador, or even driving a golf cart. If you have other ideas to enhance the conference, we’re open to suggestions! NewCAJE thrives on the support of volunteers like you—your contributions make a difference in our community and the field.
  • You will find a section on the registration form where you can offer to assist NewCAJE either before or during the conference and let us know what you can do to help.  A NewCAJE staff will reach out to discuss how you can help. 
  • If you didn’t fill in the volunteer section on your form and still wish to volunteer  contact Primo Catalano, the conference director, at primo@newcaje.org. 
  • We will be offering minyans morning and evening and a Women’s Torah reading on Thursday. Let us know if you are interested in being a service leader.
  • Unfortunately, there will be no Shabbat programming this year.
  • All food served at NewCAJE16 will be certified Kosher, adhering to the kashrut standards under rabbinic supervision of the mashgichim Farshad Shalihsabou and Jeffrey Shulevitz
  • People are welcome to dress either professionally or casually; however, we ask you to respect the pluralistic nature of the conference when you choose your attire.
  • Currently, we are expected to see high 80s in the day and a low of 70 at night in Baltimore, MD. June is part of Baltimore’s rainy season so pack accordingly. 
  • All conference buildings will be air-conditioned, so we recommend bringing a sweater in case it gets chilly.
  • People are welcome to dress either professionally or casually; however, we ask you to respect the pluralistic nature of the conference when you choose your attire.
  • Dorm residents can rent a linen packet ($12.50 each for a double room and $15 for a single room) or bring their own. The beds in the dorm rooms are Twin extra long ( 38 inches wide and 80 inches long).
  • The towels are small, so bring a bath towel if you can.

  • Please let us know if you are aware of a Jewish educator who has passed away, whether or not they attended NewCAJE. If you would like us to write a memorial, please send us an obituary, along with the address of the next of kin so we can send them a copy of the program book. You are also welcome to add a personal remembrance to accompany our tribute. We can include anyone who passed away between July 2024 and May 15 of this year. If someone passes away after that, please inform us so we can honor them next year.

A NewCAJE staff member will reach out to discuss your options.

  • The Leadership for Emerging Education Professionals (LEEP) Program is a two-year fellowship for professionals at the beginning of their Jewish education journeys. 
  • Gives young Jewish professionals a chance to build community with their peers and strengthen the foundation of their careers.
